2018 President, Lake County Chamber of Commerce
Owner, North Bay Merchant Services
Joe Casteel is a 20 year veteran of the Electronic Payment industry and moved his business to Lake County in 2006. A proud member of the Lake County Chamber of Commerce and current President, Joe and his wife Jacie have called Lake County their home since 2001.
Lake County, as well as, the bulk of California has enjoyed some of the most gorgeous weather this side of Hawaii for the past 2 weeks. Hopefully you’ve been able to get out and enjoy the natural beauty we are blessed with here in the county. Whether you are admiring the bounty of wildlife in Anderson Marsh or merely enjoying a glass of wine and a picnic lunch at any of our fantastic wineries or parks, you’re more than likely basking in the warm weather while checking your calendar to verify this really is February.
As the newly elected President of the Lake County Chamber of Commerce, I urge everyone to take the time to learn about our beautiful county and the rich history that has made us a hidden gem waiting to burst on the tourism scene in Northern California.
As you explore the county, keep an eye out for our Lake County Certified Tourism Ambassadors. These CTAs, as they are commonly referred to, will be wearing gold or silver stars and are Lake County’s roving Ambassadors. You may have seen someone wearing one of these stars at a local event, walking along one of our main streets, or serving you at one of the many fine dining establishments around our community. Your CTAs are located throughout the county and consist of your neighbors, friends and possibly members of your own family.
Tourism accounts for more than $146 million dollars in economic impact for our county, brought on by several hundred thousand visitors per year. We are all Ambassadors for our county and we owe it to ourselves to see that everyone who visits has a memorable experience. We want them to spread the word and return with friends and family.
You can dine at a restaurant with a wonderful menu, but if the service is lacking, you more than likely will not return. Similarly, if a visitor comes to our county and the interaction with the workers, wait staff and locals is not friendly and positive, they’re not likely to return or recommend to others. By acting as an Ambassador, you’ll also discover a new sense of pride by contributing to the economic health of the place you call home.
The Lake County Chamber of Commerce holds CTA training classes once a month at different venues around the county. If you are interested in discovering how you can be a part of this fun and rewarding program, contact the chamber office at 707-263-5092. You can also go to CTAnetwork.com and click on ‘Become a CTA’ for information to become a Certified Tourism Ambassador for Lake County.
